See a 3D-printed cardboard head of Dippy our iconic Diplodocus and gaze at an X-ray of a grizzly bear foot when you visit our free Nature in Focus display. Created to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of our Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, it looks at the role photography has played in the science of natural history.

This display case contains a pair of swans caring for their young posed as they would be in nature with the cygnet resting on the mother’s back. The case was one of more than 150 originally displayed in 1883, but only it and one other survived World War Two bombing.

Our knowledgeable tour guides will answer all your questions while you get up close with spectacular skeletons and extraordinary fossils in our world-famous gallery. The country’s best loved nature broadcaster, Sir David Attenborough, is turning 99 this year on the 8 May. He won’t actually be here on his birthday but you can be guided around Hintze Hall by him with our fantastic free audio guide. Listen as he tells you all about our star specimens, including the extinct marine reptile Attenborosaurus, which was named after him. Then head over to our Lasting Impressions Gallery to see a strangely shaped sand deposit known as a gogotte that was donated to us in 2017 in honour of his ninetieth birthday.
